Today is Friday…it’s been how many days…weeks…months since we’ve been at home? Too many, right?

Many of us are feeling anxious, unsure and even scared at this time. We at Sweet Nothings feel like this as well. It’s really hard for us to NOT be able to make our customers smile with our gorgeous and delicious arrangements and chocolate dipped creations. Being taken out of our regular daily routines, and distanced from our support groups and family is hard and many of us are struggling as a result.

But we just want to let you know that:

ITS OK TO NOT FEEL OK!

The world is changing, our lives are changing, our habits are changing, our thought patterns are changing. But there is life after Covid-19. And while we wait it out, we must focus on our mental health.

Now we know you’ve been bombarded by all of the things that you should be doing to keep your sanity but our Sweet Nothings team has compiled a list of things that we are doing to help ourselves cope:

  1. Take deep breaths – ground yourself in your faith. Nigel – our driver – says that praying and keeping the faith in God has kept him grounded. You can also try simple breathing exercises: breath in deeply, count to three, hold for a count of three, and then slowly breathe out, counting to three.
  2. Create or stick to a routine. Melissa – our Managing Director – continues to wake up at the same time every morning, has a cup of “mochaccino” (it’s really just a mix of chocolate and coffee 😂😂), takes her sweet little yorkiepoo, Peanut, for a walk then begins working on the new Company website. Structuring your day can give you a sense of purpose and accomplishment
  3. Get some air. Nicolette – our bouquet artist – is starting a kitchen garden in her back yard. Open your doors and windows. Fresh air can improve your mood drastically
  4. Have fun, start a hobby. It doesn’t have to be anything as grand as becoming the next Da Vinci or Beethoven. Even something small and simple to keep you occupied. Debra – our Bouquet Artist – has been sewing bed sheets and pillowcases. Rynelle – our CSR – has been trying out new recipes like doubles, donuts, and cookies – yummmm!
  5. Stay connected. Social distancing is necessary to keep us all safe but that doesn’t mean we cut off our support systems. For instance, Melissa’s daughter had her birthday a few weeks ago, and while they couldn’t have her friends and family over for a party, they had a “Zoom” party with her cousins from as far as Azerbaijan! with cake cutting and all! Fun times!
  6. Help others. If for nothing else than to make yourself feel good. Helping others helps you to feel good about yourself.
  7. Seek help. If you are feeling overwhelmed, reach out. Community help is available.
